Entity Profile
Overview
Parloa is a Berlin-headquartered agentic-AI company for enterprise customer service, founded in 2018 by Malte Kosub (CEO) and Stefan Ostwald. Its product is the AI Agent Management Platform, or AMP, which lets enterprises design, test, deploy, monitor and secure AI service agents across voice and chat. A USD 120 million Series C on 6 May 2025 took Parloa to a USD 1 billion valuation and unicorn status, and a USD 350 million Series D on 15 January 2026 was reported at USD 3 billion. Reported total capital raised exceeds USD 560 million in under four years. Parloa operates from Berlin, Munich and New York.
Why this entity matters
Parloa is the cleanest test of whether a German enterprise-software company can win a category being defined in real time, and mostly in the United States. First, the competitive set: enterprise contact-centre AI is contested by US incumbents and US-funded challengers — TechCrunch names Sierra, Decagon and PolyAI. Second, the structural answer: Parloa opened a New York office in 2023, before its Series B, and shifted its commercial centre of gravity to the United States while keeping engineering in Germany, a pattern German B2B scale-ups have avoided. Third, the funding record makes the bet legible and dated: USD 66 million in April 2024, USD 120 million a year later at USD 1 billion, then USD 350 million eight months on at a reported USD 3 billion, each led by US growth investors. It also matters as a cohort member: with DeepL, Helsing and Black Forest Labs it forms the small group of German AI companies that reached multi-billion valuations without relocating.
Company history and product
Parloa was founded in Berlin in 2018 by Malte Kosub and Stefan Ostwald as a conversational-AI platform for voice and chat customer service built on configured dialogue flows. It raised a Series A reported at USD 21 million led by EQT Ventures in 2023 and opened a New York office the same year. On 24 April 2024 it announced a USD 66 million Series B led by Altimeter Capital with EQT Ventures, Newion, Senovo, Mosaic Ventures and La Famiglia Growth participating, taking reported total funding to about USD 98 million. It then repositioned from dialogue automation to the AI Agent Management Platform, an agent-lifecycle product for enterprise contact centres in which teams brief agents in natural language rather than scripting flows, connect them to internal systems, and run them through simulation, evaluation, data isolation, content filtering and real-time monitoring. The company said revenue quadrupled in the twelve months after the Series B. On 6 May 2025 it announced a USD 120 million Series C at a USD 1 billion valuation, led jointly by Durable Capital Partners, Altimeter Capital and General Catalyst, with EQT Ventures, RPT Capital, Senovo and Mosaic Ventures participating, and about 300 employees across its three offices. On 15 January 2026 it announced a USD 350 million Series D led by General Catalyst with existing investors returning, at a reported USD 3 billion valuation, taking reported total funding above USD 560 million and closing eight months after the Series C. Alongside it the company disclosed annual recurring revenue above USD 50 million, net revenue retention of 150 percent and headcount growing from 380 toward 600 during 2026. Those operating figures are company-disclosed and reported by trade press; they are not independently audited.
Role in the DACH startup and technology ecosystem
Parloa is one of the defining German AI scale-ups of this cycle, cited alongside DeepL in Cologne, Helsing in Munich and Black Forest Labs as evidence that Germany can produce AI companies at global valuation scale without moving their engineering base abroad. Its position inside that cohort is distinct: DeepL and Black Forest Labs sell models and developer-facing products and Helsing sells into defence, while Parloa sells an enterprise application into a budget line — the contact centre — that almost every large German, Austrian and Swiss corporate already owns. Its Berlin-Munich-New York footprint is the model most discussed in DACH commentary on whether German companies must relocate to scale. Its lead investors from the Series B onward — Altimeter Capital, Durable Capital Partners and General Catalyst — are US growth funds without a DACH-first mandate, the datapoint used when arguing that late-stage capital for German AI still arrives from outside the region.
