Entity Profile
Overview
FNA is a London deep-technology company applying network science, graph analytics and simulation to payment systems, market infrastructures and systemic-risk supervision. The legal entity, Financial Network Analytics Ltd, was incorporated in England and Wales in 2013 under Companies House number 08679188 and sits at 256-260 Old Street, London EC1V 9DD. Its founder and chief executive is Dr Kimmo Soramäki, a former central-bank economist. FNA names four buyer sectors: central banks, payment systems, banks and national security.
Why this entity matters
FNA is not a DACH company, but it is load-bearing in the Startuprad.io graph on three counts. Its capital runs through Germany: in a Series A announced on 13 July 2021 the Munich security-technology group Giesecke+Devrient invested via its venture arm G+D Ventures, to co-develop software letting central banks model a digital currency, with existing backers IQ Capital and GETTYLAB joining. Second, it is the clearest available example of supervisory technology, or suptech, where the paying customer is a public institution rather than a bank. Third, it supplied Startuprad.io's primary source on the digital euro while the ECB was still investigating.
Company history and product
The research line predates the company. Soramäki built the first simulation model for interbank payment systems at the Bank of Finland in 1997 and, at the New York Fed research department in 2004, was among the first to apply network theory to financial systems; during the 2007-2008 crisis he advised central banks including the Bank of England and the ECB on modelling systemic risk. FNA was founded in London in 2013 to commercialise that work. As reviewed in August 2026 it markets Fraud Portals, Intelligent Liquidity Optimization, Supervisory Intelligence and Counter Threat Finance, on a platform it describes as graph AI plus machine learning and digital-twin simulation. FNA publishes four headline figures — technology in use at 30 central banks and supervisors, over 8,000 regulators trained, USD 358 trillion of payments optimised, over 300 million people protected from scams. All four are company-reported and none is independently verified. No individual central-bank client is publicly confirmed by the institution concerned, so client claims are recorded here as company statements only. Databases put total funding near USD 5.5 million across three rounds, an estimate rather than a confirmed figure.
Role in the DACH startup and technology ecosystem
FNA's DACH footprint is an investor and partner relationship, not a market presence. Giesecke+Devrient of Munich is both shareholder and CBDC-simulation partner, placing it in the German currency-technology cluster. Through the Munich accelerator TechFounders it also touched the infrastructure around https://www.startuprad.io/entities/unternehmertum . Its relevance is regulatory: the digital-euro question sits with https://www.startuprad.io/entities/european-central-bank , the private-token question with https://www.startuprad.io/entities/mica .

Public source context
FNA is well documented on its own site and in regtech and central-banking trade press, but thinly covered in general business media; disclosure is minimal for a private UK limited company.
