Entity Profile

Overview
TeamViewer SE is a Goeppingen-based software company whose remote access, support and endpoint management products connect computers, mobile devices and machines over the internet. Founded in 2005, it has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since September 2019 as TMV, ISIN DE000A2YN900. Its release of 10 February 2026 reported 2025 revenue of EUR 767.5 million, IFRS net income of EUR 118.2 million and 1,925 employees at year end.

Why this entity matters
TeamViewer is one of very few German software companies to have completed the arc from a small provincial product company to a listed international vendor. The 2019 flotation was the largest German technology IPO since 2000 by issue volume and the largest European IPO of that year, which makes it the benchmark whenever a DACH company weighs a Frankfurt listing against a US one. It is also a full private-equity cycle run to its conclusion in public: Permira bought in 2014, listed in 2019 and sold its last shares in 2025, so entry, holding period and exit are all on the record.

Company history and product
The software was first released in 2005 in Goeppingen and became the core product of TeamViewer GmbH, today TeamViewer Germany GmbH within TeamViewer SE. It was free for private, non-commercial use and licensed to companies, which seeded a large installed base. TeamViewer GmbH was acquired by GFI Software around 2010 (reported variously as 2009 and 2010). Permira acquired it from GFI Software in 2014, stating that TeamViewer then had roughly EUR 100 million of revenue and about 300 staff. From 2018 it moved from licences to subscriptions. The shares were admitted in Frankfurt in September 2019 with an issue volume of EUR 2.2 billion and entered the MDAX and TecDAX that December; German market coverage in March 2026 recorded a move from the MDAX to the SDAX.

The portfolio widened by acquisition: Ubimax in 2020, then Upskill, Xaleon and Viscopic in 2021, all in augmented or mixed reality; and 1E, a UK provider of digital employee experience software, announced on 10 December 2024 and combined with TeamViewer on 31 January 2025. TechCrunch reported the 1E price at USD 720 million; the company's own 2025 cash flow records EUR 682 million paid. In 2025 it launched TeamViewer ONE, a digital workplace platform bundling remote access and support with digital employee experience, monitoring and management and AI. Company reporting for 2025 put annual recurring revenue at EUR 759.7 million and the adjusted EBITDA margin at 44.3 percent across two segments: Enterprise, EUR 240.2 million of revenue, and SMB, EUR 527.3 million.

Role in the DACH startup and technology ecosystem
TeamViewer runs a company of national scale from a Swabian town of about 60,000 people, with research and development spread across Goeppingen, Bremen, Linz in Austria and Ioannina in Greece — an early German example of treating engineering capacity as European rather than national. Structurally it shows a path German software has rarely completed end to end: an internationally owned buyout, a rebuild around subscriptions, a domestic rather than US listing, and a full sponsor exit.

Selected relationships and affiliations
Ownership: GFI Software from around 2010; Permira funds from 2014 through the 2019 listing to a full exit in September 2025 — see https://www.startuprad.io/entities/permira . Executive board as reported in 2026: Oliver Steil (CEO), Michael Wilkens (CFO), Mark Banfield (CRO) and Mei Dent (chief product and technology officer); Ralf W. Dieter chairs the supervisory board. Acquired companies: Ubimax, Upskill, Xaleon, Viscopic, 1E. Sponsorships include Frisch Auf Goeppingen since 2020.

Startuprad.io relevance
TeamViewer is the DACH ecosystem's default comparison point for software scale and appears in the Startuprad.io archive largely in that role — the benchmark other companies are measured against, including in the ProGlove exit analysis.

Public source context
Financial and segment figures come from TeamViewer's own FY2025 results release of 10 February 2026 and the 2025 annual report of 18 March 2026, and are dated accordingly. Ownership history rests on Permira's announcements plus Handelsblatt and Boersen-Zeitung. The 2014 and 2024 prices are press-reported, not company-disclosed.
